My Kalahari Kitchen is born out of a love for food… and a girl that fell in love with a tall handsome farm boy. Never did I imagine a life of breathtaking sunsets with my toes in the red Kalahari sand, bright starlit nights making a canopy over our heads as we sit at a roaring log fire and herds of Zebra eating my carefully planted herbs… a beautiful, simple life in the Kalahari, Africa. This is a sharing of memories, photos, inspiration, Kalahari moments and recipes from my Kalahari kitchen…
20 years later, I am still living in the Kalahari, miles from civilization and a grocery store. My Kalahari Kitchen is my footprints in the red sand of the Kalahari (no high heels! ) and a reflection of what we call home, home around my kitchen table.
In 2019 my cookbook- My Kalahari Kitchen– was published and in April 2020 it was awarded Winner for Namibia in the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards and second place for Best in the World- Africa 2020. I am thankful to be sharing this journey with you. Please join me around my kitchen table. -Aldalene
If you really want to make a friend, go to someone’s house and eat with him – the people who give you their food give you their heart.
